Glenn Langenburg and Eric Ray first revisit a couple of additional aspects of our previous discussion on defense interviews in Illinois before diving into the deep end of accreditation. Anja Einseln joins the Double Loop Podcast as our guest expert on ASCLD/LAB, ANAB, and all things accreditation. In the first half we talk about some of the changes that will be coming with the recent merger of ASCLD/LAB and ANAB and what it means for latent print units in accredited labs.
“It’s an acknowledgement even in Section A of 22.214.171.124 that you may just do a partial analysis on the submitted items. You may not analyze some things because again once you’ve identified that Jane Brown’s fingerprints were found on at least one of the beer bottles then the investigator has the information that they need. So again, the intent is moving away from the how and focusing on the what. So the what is the lab has to have a procedure and you need to decide at a minimum what’s going to be reported for all the items received so in some instances it might be processed but not evaluated.”
